At St. Vincent’s Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care, we pride ourselves on our compassionate care. We treat you as a whole person - mind, body and spirit. We know that a life-changing diagnosis can create stress for you and your family.
If you or a loved one experiences emotional distress, anxiety or depression due to a change in personal and/or professional roles as a direct result of a cancer diagnosis or treatment, we are here to help. We work closely with you. Our goal is to help you to better cope or learn to adjust to the challenges you or your family are facing.
We begin with a careful evaluation of your physical, emotional and social situation, to better understand how psychological stressors are affecting your life. All cases are discussed with our psycho-oncology team. Our team includes a staff psychiatrist who will meet with you to develop an individualized plan of care. Many patients benefit from our holistic approach to emotional support. Patients are seen individually, or with their family members, as often as is deemed essential to their care.
