Student Nurse Internship

Thank you for considering St. Vincent’s for your student nurse internship. Here you will find the requirements for applying for your internship and the contact information. Please return all documents for the internship by mail to the address below. 

Program Overview

  • 10 week voluntary summer program

  • Work one on one with a dedicated RN mentor 24 to 40 hours per week

  • Assist in the delivery of both direct and indirect nursing care

  • Participate in simulation education and training

  • Attend seminars and Nursing Grand Rounds

  • Exposure to a Magnet Hospital Environment

  • Participate in hospital quality improvement initiatives

  • Work on a unit based project and present findings

Entry Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a BSN program

  • Completed Junior year of BSN program

  • Meet SVHS health requirements

  • Clinical faculty reference

  • Satisfactory academic record (3.0 GPA)

  • Copy of current transcript

  • Completed application

Application Process

Applicants that have supplied all of the materials below and meet the program’s eligibility requirements will be contacted for an interview with the selection committee. 

Choice of candidates and notifications will be made by April 3, 2017 Selected applicants will need to provide an acceptance decision by April 10, 2017. The Internship Program begins on May 22, 2017 and ends on August 4, 2017.

Application Completion Checklist
  • Complete the St. Vincent’s Health Services Volunteer Application Form.

  • Complete the Student Nurse Intern Application Checklist.

  • Have one clinical faculty instructor complete the Student Nurse Intern Skills Checklist and a Reference letter.

  • Send an official current copy of Transcripts (GPA 3.0).

  • Completed applicant essay as to why you would like this internship and why you are qualified. This essay should not exceed 300 words. Please submit in a word document attached to your application. You can mail, fax with cover sheet (Student Nurse Intern Program at the top) or email with subject line “Student Nurse Intern Program.”
