Parish Nurse Program
St. Vincent's Medical Center assists area parishes and congregations to start and maintain a Parish Nurse Program in their respective places of worship. Here at St. Vincent's we have seventy parishes/congregations from Stratford to Stamford participating in our program.
The focus of the Parish Nurse Program is on maintaining a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit. The Parish Nurse serves as Health Educator, Counselor, Referral Source and Health Promoter for her congregation. Through such basic services as monthly Blood Pressure Screenings, the Nurse is able to provide valuable instruction and assistance to the members of his/her own congregation. As a result of these screenings, many parishioners, unaware of existing blood pressure problems, have been referred to their personal physicians before a serious problem evolves.
For more information, please call the Parish Nurse Department at 475-210-5716. We will be glad to speak to you and your Pastors about the program.
