Craig L. Floch, MD, FACS
Dr. Craig Floch and his brother, Dr. Neil Floch, began the Bariatric Surgery Program at Norwalk Hospital. He is the founder and senior partner of Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. Dr. Floch is board certified and is currently a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
A graduate of the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire, he continued his education at the University of Health Sciences at the Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois. He then moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he completed his Internship in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center. From there, he completed his Residency in General Surgery at Case Western Reserve University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, and in the last year of his program he was the Chief Resident.
Dr. Floch was instrumental in the establishment of the Bariatric Surgery Center at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in 2003. This program has developed into a Center of Excellence and he has been the director of this program since 2010. He served on the Surgical Peer Review Committee at St. Vincent’s from 2010-2012.
Most recently, Dr. Floch has completed his training with the daVinci robot and has performed single incision gallbladder removal procedures with great success and patient satisfaction. He is one of the first surgeons in our community to offer this option for patients. This is a step into the future and he will continue to develop this aspect of the practice, with a goal of applying this technology to bariatric procedures.
Dr. Floch has a dedication and strong commitment to his work. His reputation among his patients and peers is strong, as evidenced by his selection as a Top Doctor in Bariatric Surgery by Connecticut Magazine for 2011 through 2015.
