Maryanne Davidson, DNSc, APRN, CPNP, Interim President of St. Vincent’s College

Dr. Davidson has more than 30 years of experience in the health care field, including as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner, an advanced nurse practitioner and an associate professor, with years of service at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Yale University School of Nursing, and Southern Connecticut State University. She holds both a Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Science from Yale University School of Nursing.

Dr. Davidson has conducted, presented, and published research in the areas of self and family management of chronic illness with concentrations in mental illness, obesity, and Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Dr. Davidson previously received the Florence Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing and was recently awarded the “Best in Nursing” honor by the American Health Council.

Immediately prior to her appointment as interim president, Dr. Davidson had been serving as the associate dean of nursing at St Vincent’s College, when she transitioned from SHU as part of the management contract between the University and St. Vincent’s College. She joined SHU in 2014 as associate professor of nursing, taking on the concurrent role of program director, Undergraduate Program in Nursing, in 2015.
