St. Vincent’s Medical Center (SVMC) is a member of Ascension ( a faith-based healthcare organization dedicated to transformation through innovation across the continuum of care. In FY2016, Ascension provided more than $1.8 billion in care of persons living in poverty and other community benefit programs. SVMC offers regional centers of excellence in cardiology, surgery, cancer care, orthopaedics, family birthing, behavioral health, and an array of specialized services. SVMC comprises: 


  • St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a 473-bed community teaching and referral hospital with a Level II trauma center, providing a full range of inpatient and outpatient services with more than 50 medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties.

  • St. Vincent’s College: As of July 2, 2018, St. Vincent's College is no longer administering educational programs. The Nursing and Radiography degree programs as well as the healthcare certificates have been transferred to Sacred Heart University. Information can be found at

  • St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation's primary purpose is to raise funds in order to help meet certain financial needs of St. Vincent's Medical Center. The Foundation, which sponsors St. Vincent’s SWIM Across the Sound, offers cancer prevention and patient support programs for un- and under-insured area residents.

  • St. Vincent’s MultiSpecialty Group is a clinically integrated network of primary care and specialty care providers in the community and in the hospital

  • St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services (SVSN), a major provider in southern Connecticut of specialized lifelong education and therapeutic programs for children and adults with multiple developmental disabilities.
