We understand that each patient has individual needs and would like to assist in every way possible. Please alert your nurse if you need help with any language, hearing or vision challenges. Translation services are available throughout the Medical Center.
- The Language Line is an over-the-phone interpretation service available 24/7. The Language Line interprets from English into more than 170 languages. Staff can access the Language Line by calling the switchboard (0) and asking for a connection.
- The Language Access Network (LAN) provides video conferencing interpretation including sign language. This can be done by using the MARTTI (My Accessible Real-Time Trusted Interpreter), a mobile and wireless video conferencing unit. St. Vincent’s Medical Center currently has 7 MARTTI units.
- Family Services Woodfield (FSW) provides in-person interpretation services. FSW interpreters provide American Sign Language, transliteration, oral, tactile and CDI interpretation service by certified interpreters who are registered with the Commission on the Deaf and Hearing Impaired.
