Swim Across the Sound’s Prostate Cancer Institute in association with St. Vincent’s Medical Center will be holding its first annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Day on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 from 7:00am – 4:00pm. The event is open to the public at no cost and is in recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
An informational booth with free raffles and giveaways will be set up in the lobby of St. Vincent’s to help further awareness of prostate cancer and the free supportive services that the Swim Prostate Cancer Institute offers to the public.
Raffle prizes include a basketball autographed by UConn Coach Jim Calhoun and Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim, a baseball autographed by former Major League Yankees Relief Pitcher Goose Gossage. Visitors will also be able to speak to St. Vincent’s healthcare professionals knowledgeable in prostate cancer, receive free educational materials and information on the Prostate Cancer Buddy Network and the Prostate Cancer Support Group, as well as schedule an appointment for a free prostate cancer screening.
