Sports Injuries: How to Stay in the Game – A Boomers’ Listen & Learn Lecture

BRIDGEPORT, CT, March 13, 2007 – St. Vincent's Medical Center is sponsoring a free talk open to the general public on "Sports Injuries: How to Stay in the Game" as part of its Listen & Learn Lecture Series for Baby Boomers. The talk will take place on Tuesday, April 3 from 6:30-7:30pm at the Trumbull Marriott in Trumbull, Connecticut.

Featured speaker, Patrick Kwok, MD, will focus on the latest advances in minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery and the rehabilitation services St. Vincent's offers for common sports injuries, such as torn rotator cuffs, herniated disks, fractures, dislocations and Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tears. Dr. Kwok will explain how patients can stay active and get back in the game after an injury. Many sports related injuries are treatable with outpatient therapy and medical management by the orthopedic physician.

Dr. Kwok serves on active staff at St. Vincent's Medical Center and operates Orthopaedic Specialty Group, a private practice with offices in Fairfield, Shelton and Stratford. He graduated from Princeton University and earned a doctorate of medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1996. He then went on to complete his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, an affiliate of St. Vincent's Medical Center.

A question and answer session will follow his presentation, and light refreshments will be provided.

Listen & Learn Lecture Series
St. Vincent's "Listen & Learn" is a free series of talks for the community by physicians on health and wellness topics in an effort to help area residents stay well. Participants learn from experts in the field about medical topics and prevention strategies, and how to sort through confusing consumer health information available to consumers. Topics will cover a broad range of issues. The program, a part of St. Vincent's mission of outreach to the community, is open to the general public, and will rotate sites for the talks among area towns. The lecture program is a collaboration between St. Vincent's Club 50/Boomers' Group and its Physician Services.

St. Vincent's Boomers' Group
St. Vincent's Boomers Group is designed for people born during the Baby Boom years of 1946-1964 who still consider themselves young and healthy and who remain active in their careers and leisure time.
