The Annual Bone Marrow Donor Drive, funded by Swim Across the Sound, will take place on Tuesday, August 30 from 11:00am-5:30pm in the Hawley Conference Center of St.Vincent's Medical Center.
More than 1400 patients receive transplants through the National Marrow Donor Program each year. However, each year 30,000 children and adults in the USA are diagnosed with leukemia and other life-threatening blood diseases for which only a stem cell transplant can be a cure. Only 30% will find a match in their families and the other 70% must search for an unrelated donor in the National Registry.
Please consider adding yourself to this Life-Saving Registry. To be placed on the registry all you need to do is view an informational video that will answer all your questions. Then a medical professional will perform a finger stick to obtain a few drops of blood.
