St. Vincent’s Medical Center offers classes and education resources  to help you prepare for the big event.

Most new parents, and many seasoned ones, are eager to learn as much as they can about their birth of their baby. The classes, tours and support groups listed below are scheduled as conveniently as possible and held at the FBC. Register to attend by calling (203) 576-5310 or emailing greid@stvincents.org:

Baby care 

Master the basics of caring for your infant, such as bathing, diapering, feeding and safety. Learn more about this class and other educational resources >>

Infant/child CPR

Most parents never need it, but when you do, you really DO. This class, available monthly, brings you up-to-date on the techniques of infant/child CPR that differ from methods used on adults but that can save precious young lives. Learn more about this class and other educational resources >>

Cesarean birth class

Parents who know in advance that their baby will arrive by C-section learn how to prepare. Learn more about this class and other educational resources >>

Childbirth preparation class

Expectant parent tours

Sibling at birth program

The excitement of being included to witness a brother or sister’s birth is beautiful. Keep the enthusiasm going by preparing siblings, four years old and up, for the process. A video is shown and a tour of the FBC is provided Learn more about this class and other educational resources >>

Sibling class and tour 

“We’re getting a baby!” Kids whose moms’ are expecting learn just what they need to know. Along with one or both parents, they watch a video and tour the FBC so they’ll know all about how Mom is going to be totally taken care of right here. Maternal pelvic health program 

This program focuses on the prevention and treatment of pelvic floor issues that can arise during and after pregnancy. Through education, exercise and support, women learn how to overcome conditions such as urinary incontinence, pelvic prolapse and vaginal pain. Prenatal Breastfeeding Class

Taking a free Prenatal Breastfeeding Class helps prepare you for what to expect and provides clear, consistent information before you deliver. Topics include benefits, importance of exclusive breastfeeding, rooming-In, skin to skin and feeding cues. This will increase your understanding and confidence when you deliver. Mother-Baby Support Group 

It’s after-the-fact, you could use some sharing.
