Elizabeth M. Pfriem Hybrid Operating Room

In 2011, St. Vincent’s completed construction on the new  Elizabeth M. Pfriem Hybrid Operating Room. The Hybrid OR is a state-of-the-art operating room allowing patients to be treated in one place at one time without having to schedule multiple procedures.

The capabilities of the hybrid OR makes it possible to combine the traditional diagnostic/interventional functions of a catheterization lab with the surgical functions of an operating room. The result is less time in the operating room and reduced costs for hospitalization. The hybrid OR's  multi-disciplinary approach is being utilized for open heart surgery and vascular surgery, bringing together experts in cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery and vascular surgery.

Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)

Surgery at St. Vincent’s Medical Center is performed in our new state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) or our Operating Room Suite located on the third floor of the Medical Center.

Our ASC is a new state-of-the-art $10.5 million, 13,500 square foot Center. The new ASC replaced an earlier surgical suite, where procedures not requiring a hospital admission or overnight stay were performed.

Located on the main level of the Medical Center, the Ambulatory Surgery Center includes four operating rooms, a recovery suite that increases the number of Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) beds from seven to 12, one cystoscopy room for urological procedures, and a new feature, an expanded procedure room for minimally invasive procedures that do not require a surgical operating room.

Operating Room Suite

St. Vincent’s $18 million, 27,000 square foot surgical suite on the third floor of the Medical Center was designed and built for safety in 2005. The surgical suite consolidates all major pre-and post-operative procedure areas in order to streamline the entire surgical process for patients. With increased capacity, the Operating Rooms allow for upgraded technology. The large area is a critical component in efficiency, safety and overall process. The fully equipped space gives the OR team more infrastructure and capabilities in providing advanced and patient-friendly surgical services.
