Frequently Asked Questions:

Is there a difference in co-pays at the Outpatient Pharmacy?
Co-pays for employees and their dependents who elect to take the prescription coverage through St. Vincent’s will have a lower copay when utilizing St. Vincents’ Outpatient Pharmacy. The Outpatient Pharmacy also has lower costs for medications that are not covered.

Can we get a 90-day supply from the outpatient pharmacy?
Yes. 

What does the pharmacy accept for payment for the prescriptions?

We accept major private/commercial insurance, workman’s comp, Medicaid and Medicare Part D claims for prescriptions.  The patients portion of the medication cost (ie copay) can be paid by various methods including credit cards, checks, debit cards, Flexible spending cards and of course cash.

How do I transfer a prescription?
Simply call or stop down and see the pharmacy staff.  They can call and transfer a prescription for you.  Just provide your name and the prescription information. 

Can patients/families/visitors, private physicians, AHIS, Gilbane, volunteers, etc. get their prescriptions filled at the outpatient pharmacy?
Yes. 

Can I as an employee pick-up prescriptions after hours?

The Pharmacy changed their hours in order to accommodate additional employees.  We are now open 7am to 7pm.  If you need prescriptions after these hours please work with the outpatient pharmacy to fill and pay for prescriptions ahead of time. Then the outpatient pharmacy will deliver to the inpatient pharmacy and you can pick-up from the inpatient pharmacy.  See the Policy on the Source or contact the Pharmacy for additional details.

How can I fill my prescriptions if I work off-site?

Please work with the outpatient pharmacy to fill and pay for prescriptions ahead of time. Then the outpatient pharmacy will deliver your non-controlled prescriptions to your off-site location with the current delivery courier service.  See the Policy on the Source or contact the Pharmacy for additional details.

Can I pick-up after hours?
Please work with the outpatient pharmacy to fill and pay for prescriptions ahead of time. Then the outpatient pharmacy will deliver to the inpatient pharmacy and you can pick-up from the inpatient pharmacy. 

Can we buy over the counter (OTC) medications at the outpatient pharmacy?
Yes, we stock commonly requested OTC medications.  We can also order you many other products... please check with the staff if you have a special request.

The Pharmacy also carry’s breast pumps and some supply’s for new moms.  We will also help employees send forms to SMARTHEALTH for reimbursement for the cost of the breast pump.

Does the outpatient pharmacy accept e-prescribing?
Yes.  Physician offices can obtain instructions to set-up e-prescribing through Surescripts by contacting the outpatient pharmacy staff.  Currently, neither Centricity/Enterprise (inpatient system) nor AllScripts (ED system) has the ability to send e-prescriptions.
