St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT

Pharmacy

St. Vincent’s Medical Center PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program prepares its graduates to assume direct patient care positions in the acute care setting or pursue second year post-graduate training in a focused area of practice.

St. Vincent's one-year residency program utilizes a systems approach to facilitate the development of new pharmacists into competent practitioners able to provide patient-centered pharmaceutical care.  Our program fosters the resident’s ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, develop strong verbal and written communication skills and become a lifelong, self-directed learner.  The foundation of the program is built upon St. Vincent’s Medical Center core values of service, reverence, integrity, wisdom, creativity and dedication. This program is ASHP-accredited.

Opportunity for professional growth abounds in many core areas including General Medicine, Cardiology, Critical Care, Antibiotic Stewardship, Practice Management, Transition of Care and Emergency Medicine, among others.  Each resident will design and conduct an MUE, present proposals at P&T Committee, prepare a project and present a seminar.  Based on individual goals and direction, the resident may be involved in teaching PharmD students, teaching classes at St. Vincent’s College, or leading patient medication classes.
