St. Vincent’s psychiatric emergency area within its Michael J. Daly Center for Emergency and Trauma Care provides the highest level of compassionate, professional emergency care to patients in behavioral crisis. From observing dangerously irrational behavior in a loved one to having one’s own persistent thoughts of suicide, responding to evidence of mental or emotional breakdown is imperative.
A separate entrance in the emergency center ensures that these patients encounter a
discreet admissions process and compassionate care in the hands of our staff of experienced medical and psychiatric professionals. St. Vincent’s is the first facility in Fairfield County available 24 hours a day to offer a separate entrance as well as space configured for privacy in order to meet the quick-response needs of our behavioral-health patients and their families.
With its unflagging focus on patient safety and unsurpassed quality of care, St. Vincent's has designed its new Emergency Department to incorporate state-of-the-art medical technology. The latest cardiac monitoring capability is provided in all ED rooms, for instance, and the department’s secure, automated pharmaceutical dispensing system ensures patients receive the prescribed medications they need on a safe and timely basis.
