Emergency Medicine at St. Vincent's
Our "no-wait" ED revolutionizes emergency care
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911
Emergency care at St. Vincent’s offers an unsurpassed level of effective, efficient medical response to injured or ill individuals who arrive either alone, with family or by ambulance.
The center’s pristine, high-tech physical plant, named The Michael J. Daly Center for Emergency and Trauma Care, has implemented an extraordinary approach to staffing, communication and triaging to ease the emergency-room experience by ensuring that patients receive attention upon arrival that leads to medical care expertly and swiftly provided. The anxiety-producing hours of waiting so often associated with hospital emergency care do not occur at the center.
In addition to reducing the door-to-doctor time for emergency patients from an average of 93 to 26 minutes, enhancing physician accountability and reducing inadvertent harm to patients, St. Vincent’s new emergency process strategy has resulted in a fourfold improvement in the “overall quality of care” assessment by our patients. That’s an “uptick” we at St. Vincent’s value almost as much as the most important advantage The Michael J. Daly Center for Emergency and Trauma Care has provided to the community: better patient outcomes.
