Prostate Cancer Institute
Are you seeking prostate cancer treatment in Connecticut? The SWIM Prostate Cancer Institute (PCI), sponsored by St. Vincent’s SWIM Across the Sound, educates men about the importance of prostate screening in detecting prostate cancer at the earliest and most treatable stage.
The Prostate Cancer Support Group provides men with both education and support on a monthly basis. Topics include symptom management, nutrition, updates in treatments and the Buddy Network.
For more than 13 years, PCI has offered FREE prostate screenings to uninsured or underinsured men at various locations in the greater Bridgeport area. In addition, the SWIM Across the Sound helps individual cancer patients on a case-by-case basis with specific needs such as medication assistance, transportation to treatments and much more.
The PCI meets basic needs such as utilities and rent when the needs exist, making it a unique and critical support program for those who qualify.
Our prostate cancer nurse navigator is dedicated to the patient to assist in the navigation of care through their diagnosis, treatment and into survivorship.
The PCI strategic vision also includes clinical research and treatment in addition to its traditional mission of education and support.

The Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care
The Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care is accredited with commendation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
Criteria for accreditation include a relationship with the American Cancer Society (ACS) and a representative from the ACS is a member of our Hospital Committee on Cancer.
