For patients diagnosed with complex Hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) diseases, there is hope at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. The Lebo-DeSantie Center for Liver and Pancreatic Disease has developed a unique, effective and holistic approach to treating patients with HPB diseases, both benign and malignant.
The Lebo-DeSantie Center’s multi-disciplinary approach utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment modalities to care for a wide variety of gastrointestinal disorders. Expert gastroenterologists, radiologists, endocrinologists, surgeons, oncologists and pathologists work collaboratively to create a comprehensive treatment plan unique to the individual needs of each patient.
The Lebo-DeSantie Center for Liver and Pancreatic Disease was established in 2010 to support the increasing complexity of patients with Hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) diseases, both benign and malignant.
There are approximately 79,000 new cases of HPB cancer diagnosed annually in the United States. This includes 44,000 pancreas cancer cases, 26,000 liver cancer cases and 9,000 gallbladder and biliary cancer cases.
Let us coordinate your care
Patients with complex HPB disease often have difficulty gaining timely access to the multiple expert opinions necessary to maximize their outcomes. At St. Vincent’s Medical Center, our HPB cancer nurse navigator is there to help guide patients through the diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
Comprehensive care with state of the art technology
As part of our gastrointestinal cancer multidisciplinary program, complex HPB cases are discussed individually by our multidisciplinary team of experts including gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, interventional radiologists, surgeons, nursing and support staff, all of whom specialize in HPB disease. Once a care plan is recommended, the patient meets with the team members who coordinate their care to minimize unnecessary visits and testing.
An integral part of the Lebo-DeSantie Center for Liver and Pancreatic Disease multidisciplinary team includes the Connecticut Liver & Pancreas Surgical Associates.
