Inpatient Services
The inpatient oncology unit of the Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care at St. Vincent’s Medical Center is located in the newly renovated space of 9 South. Each patient has a private room.
Oncology care provided on the inpatient unit is focused on quality, safety, and compassion. Care is coordinated through multidisciplinary rounds and continuously updated nursing plans of care.
Care is provided by experienced, expert nurses, many of whom are nationally certified. Currently, the staff has over 400 years of collective experience!
Exercising your way to good health
At St. Vincent’s Medical Center we understand the importance of maintaining strength while in the hospital. Each patient is enrolled in our nationally recognized Moving to Wellness program. In collaboration with patients and their families, individual exercise programs are developed and put into action.
Compassionate care is a hallmark of oncology care. Families are welcomed as Partners in Care. Attention is given to spiritual and emotional well being in addition to physical healing. Continuity of care is enhanced through referral to the SWIM Across the Sound resources and St. Vincent’s ambulatory care facilities.
Cancer is a disease that can be isolating and frightening. The 9 South oncology staff walk with you and your family on your cancer journey.
The Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care
The Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care is accredited with commendation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
Criteria for accreditation include a relationship with the American Cancer Society (ACS) and a representative from the ACS is a member of our Hospital Committee on Cancer.
