Breast Center of Excellence
St. Vincent’s Breast Center has earned the Breast Center of Excellence designation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer (NAPBC). Accreditation by the NAPBC is granted only to those centers that are committed to providing the best possible care to patients with diseases of the breast.
To maintain accreditation, centers must monitor compliance with NAPBC Standards to ensure quality care. Our designation means our patients have the peace of mind of coordinated care by a team of passionate physicians and healthcare professionals.
With breast cancer becoming one of the most prevalent diseases diagnosed in the United States with more than 230,000 new cases expected to be diagnosed in women in 2011, your treatment needs to be managed efficiently and include breast specialists who will be involved with your care.
Weekly Breast Cancer Conferences are held where breast surgeons, plastic surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, breast cancer nurse navigators and all other support personnel meet to discuss individual patient management in detail.
At St. Vincent’s Breast Center of Excellence, a nurse navigator is available to help guide you through your cancer diagnosis and treatment. As certified oncology nurses, the nurse navigator can answer your questions; help coordinate your care and offer support and guidance.
The Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care
The Elizabeth M. Pfriem SWIM Center for Cancer Care is accredited with commendation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
Criteria for accreditation include a relationship with the American Cancer Society (ACS) and a representative from the ACS is a member of our Hospital Committee on Cancer.
