Emergency Psychiatric Intervention
St. Vincent’s psychiatric emergency department is at-the-ready, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, to respond to patients experiencing a mental health crisis and in need of an emergency psychiatric intervention.
As the first such facility of its kind established in Fairfield County, we are located within the Michael J. Daly Center for Emergency and Trauma Care. A separate entrance in the emergency center ensures a discreet admissions process.
Our multi-disciplinary team of caregivers is committed to compassionate care. We focus on evaluating and then administering the appropriate level of care while also supporting family members during a crisis. Whether your loved one is experiencing persistent thoughts of suicide, or displaying evidence of a mental or emotional breakdown, our team offers immediate emergency care in a safe environment. We help your loved one through their crisis. We work as a team so they may restore and reclaim their sense of well-being and return to a healthy, functioning life.
With our unflagging commitment to patient safety and an unsurpassed record of providing quality care, St. Vincent's has designed its new Emergency Department to incorporate state-of-the-art medical technology. The latest cardiac monitoring capability is provided in all ED rooms, for instance, and the department’s secure, automated pharmaceutical dispensing system ensures patients receive the prescribed medications they need on a safe and timely basis.
