St. Vincent’s discreet psychiatric emergency department is the first such facility in Fairfield County with a space configured to behavioral health patients.
Once admitted to the psychiatric emergency department, an individual experiencing a behavioral health crisis is assessed by a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health clinicians. Following the assessment process, the patient is either transferred to a St. Vincent’s Medical Center room for treatment or is transferred for inpatient or outpatient services.
Private and semi-private rooms are available and provide a comfortable environment while a patient is waiting to be placed in an appropriate level of care. The psychiatric emergency department provides a safe and confidential environment to individuals who are in crisis and provides peace of mind to the family members who are concerned for them.
