Frequently-Asked Questions
How do I get into in-patient rehabilitation? Please see admission criteria.
What do I wear for therapy? Comfortable clothing is best. All of our patients get dressed everyday.
How much therapy will I get? All patients receive at least 3 hours of therapy a day/15 hours in a 7 day period, as their condition and tolerance allows, spread across our three therapy disciplines.
How is my discharge date decided? Each patient presents with individual impairments, functional limitations, and discharge goals. As a result, each patient’s length of stay is determined on an individual basis. Team conferences are held weekly to discuss your progress and your individual length of stay will be discussed during your conference.
What is a typical day on Acute Rehab like?
Morning: Each day will begin with the nurse, CNA and/or therapist helping you get washed and dressed into your own clothing. The CNA will monitor your vital signs and the nurse will administer your medications. Breakfast will be served at 8 AM. We prefer that patients are out of bed for all three meals. The therapy schedule will be posted for the day on the schedule board located at the nurse’s station. Therapy sessions are held in the Rehab Gym. Therapies will be scheduled to each patient’s individual needs and will allow for adequate rest breaks.
Afternoon: Lunch is served at 12 PM. Patients are encouraged to eat together in the Day Room. Afternoon therapies will resume per the schedule set earlier in the day. Families, visitors, and phone calls are always welcome; however, please consider that therapies are scheduled during the day and must be kept as a priority.
Evening: Dinner is served at 5pm. Patients, families, and visitors are welcome to socialize in the Day Room. There are games, books, a Nintendo Wii, videos/DVDs, and puzzles available for all to enjoy.
What are the visiting hours? 10 East visiting hours are the same as the hospital: 11 AM - 8 PM. However, in order to prevent scheduling conflict with therapies, it is best to schedule visitors after 4 PM. You are welcome to have company in your room, in the Day Room, and, with the nurse’s permission (medical clearance), in the hospital lobby or outside.
