Our Team

St. Vincent's Orthopaedic Nurses
During your stay at St. Vincent's Orthopaedic Unit, you will receive excellent care from our certified orthopaedic nurses. Our goal is to meet your individual physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs. It is a privilege to deliver safe and compassionate care to all of our patients.

Physician Assistants (PA)
PAs are an important part of the multidisciplinary orthopaedic team at St. Vincent's.  Working side-by-side with your surgeon and nurses, our PA's provide most of the on-site postoperative care on orthopaedic patients. PAs are capable of managing any issues that may arise during your hospital stay. They are available to discuss questions or concerns you or your family may have regarding your postoperative course. They are also heavily involved with your discharge planning and are frequently discussing your progress with your surgeon and other medical consultants involved in your case.

Physical/Occupational Therapy
Physical and occupational therapy are an integral part of St. Vincent's Joint Replacement program. A qualified team will assist you in regaining functional mobility, range of motion and strength. The program offers two treatment sections daily. After an individualized morning section focusing on mobility, patients are required to attend an afternoon Replacement Camp. Camp is an hour-long exercise session emphasizing strength and range of motion specific for the diagnosis. Family members are encouraged to attend camp and be a coach. The therapist will also play a role in discharge planning by assisting with placement options, equipment needs and family planning.

Case Management
Case managers will work with patients and their families, as well as physicians, physical therapists, nurses and insurance companies to develop a safe discharge plan. The case manager will assess patients' progress and obtain approval for home care or rehabilitative services at the time of discharge. If patients are discharged to a rehabilitative facility, the case manager associate will assist with faxing paperwork and setting up transportation.

Case managers will order equipment, such as a walker, cane or commode based on the recommendations of physicians and physical therapists. She will make certain to use a vendor that your insurance company approves.

Case managers are committed to providing patients with a smooth transition from the medical center to either home or rehabilitative facility.
