FAMILY: WHERE TO WAIT?

While you are undergoing cardiac surgery, your family may wait in the hospital or at home. Family may obtain an in-house beeper from the pre-operative area, Short Stay, so that the team can provide updates regarding the surgery and communicate as needed.Waiting areas in the hospital are located in the main lobby or on the 8th floor family waiting room. Following the operation, your cardiac surgeon will personally talk with your family. After speaking with the surgeon, our family must wait about an hour before visiting you in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) on the 8th floor, in order to give the staff sufficient time to assess your condition.
