St. Vincent's Medical Center and SWIM Center for Cancer Care offer a rejuvenating free Yoga Program for cancer survivors undergoing active treatment and those who have completed treatments within the past two years.
Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years to improve physical and emotional well-being. Research on yoga conducted with cancer patients and survivors yielded improvements in sleep quality, mood, stress, cancer-related distress, cancer-related symptoms and overall quality of life.
Free classes are held on Tuesdays from 10:00am to 11:00am (for patients in treatment) and on Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 5:30pm or 6:00pm to 7:00pm (for cancer survivors) at The Club at The Watermark (see below for more details). Certified yoga instructor Susan N. Kiley will lead cancer patients in physical movements, as well as instruction on breathing and meditation.
