Surgical oncology is a diverse division with subspecialists in a variety of surgical fields including breast, gastrointestinal, hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB), endocrine, thoracic, urology, gynecology, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, and orthopaedic surgery. Plastic surgeons, vascular surgeons, dermatologists, and oral surgeons also play vital roles in the surgical care of cancer patients. The Division of Surgical Oncology at St. Vincent’s is dedicated to promoting the highest quality of surgical care in a multidisciplinary fashion. This requires close collaboration with our medical and radiation oncology colleagues as well as our nursing and support staff. The core of this effort is our tumor conference which is moderated by the division chief, Dr. Daniel Passeri. Surgical oncologists play an active role in this conference by frequently presenting cases seeking additional input.
