Call 576-6158 When a patient, family member or friend in the community has questions about resources or just needs someone to talk to, the SWIM provides a direct link to a Clinical Nurse Specialist. “As an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist, I can help you or your family members during this difficult time in your life,” said Teresa Money-McLaughlin. Feeling sick is never easy, especially when cancer is involved. It’s important to know that you are NOT alone. The Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist can help you and your family during this difficult time. Here are some of the many resources available through the SWIM to assist you in living with cancer: - Financial assistance applications
- Cancer support group referrals
- Reference materials that will help answer questions you may have about cancer
- Resolving everyday concerns about your job, insurance, and how to communicate effectively with your healthcare provider
- Preparing you for everyday changes in your life that may come from cancer or its treatment
- Teaching you ways to resolve side effects of your treatments, like feeling tired, losing your appetite, or fighting infection
- Bringing together people and resources to help you manage difficult problems that you or your family may face
- Answering questions you may have about your cancer, and its treatment, or ways to live with cancer’s “up’s and down’s.”
