Sponsored by St. Vincent's SWIM Across the Sound, the Prostate Cancer Buddy Network is a unique one-on-one peer support program for newly diagnosed prostate cancer patients and their families. The network links men who have recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer survivors.
Men facing prostate cancer for the first time often find that some of their most valuable information and support can come from those who have faced the same anxieties and have gone through a similar experience. Volunteers who are prostate cancer survivors are willing to share their own experiences and to be available when needed for support and advice. They have been trained in providing support and can offer reassurance that it is possible to lead a full life after diagnosis of prostate cancer.
