Cancer Services

We believe the best way to care for an individual with cancer is by using a team effort...an oncologist, radiologist and surgeon will work closely with one another, to coordinate specialties and focus their efforts on a single goal: the patient's recovery. Right from the start, patients benefit from this comprehensive approach - a fact echoed by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, who have recognized our high level of cancer care with an approval rating only one in four cancer hospitals receive.

Recent statistics demonstrate that this kind of approach has indeed proven successful, which is especially good to know, since St. Vincent's treats more cancer patients than any other hospital in the region. Our services range from the area's most advanced technology, to a special outpatient Infusion Center to cancer support groups. Promising new treatments include high-dose brachytherapy and implanted chemotherapy infusion pumps.

Meanwhile, our annual Swim Across the Sound event continues to fund nearly three dozen free and subsidized cancer screening, prevention and patient support programs - serving over 15,000 people a year in communities throughout Fairfield County.
