Program Structure
Our program offers a variety of settings and opportunities for Residents to practice. These include Ambulatory Care, In-patient Services and Intensive Care.
Ambulatory Care:
Internal Medicine residents work in a variety of ambulatory care settings, including a hospital-based family health center (FHC), and offices of physicians in private practice in the community.

Inpatient Medicine Service:
St. Vincent's is an acute care community hospital. Physicians practicing in the community admit patients with the full spectrum of medical illnesses, and admit cases with educational value to the teaching service. Patients who have no assigned physician are also admitted to the teaching services.

Intensive Care:
The Intensive Care Unit is an excellent site for residents to learn how to manage critically ill patients. Residents also learn to manage the full range of state-of-the-art technology employed in treating these patients. By the end of their training, residents are expert with ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, central lines, etc.
