Kathryn O'Donnell resides in Fairfield. She was born at St. Vincent's Hospital and gave birth to her own two daughters there as well. An experienced educator, Kathryn works at The Buckley School, a private boy’s school, in Manhattan. She runs the Lower School Library, teaches class III reading, screens admissions candidates, leads a support group for boys from single parent homes and advises some upper school students. Along with being an advocate for children, Kathryn has a passionate interest in working with the elderly, helping the terminally ill and saving stray animals. A former runner, Kathryn now keeps active at the gym, taking spinning, pilates and aerobic classes. Kathryn’s summers are devoted to taking professional development courses, reading, gardening, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.
Having been the primary caregiver for two important people in her life who had long hospital stays as a part of their treatment, Kathryn realizes the crucial importance of good communication among patients, caregivers, and members of the hospital staff. She knows firsthand the importance of each interaction in ensuring that patients are receiving the best compassionate care and respectful treatment that preserves their sense of dignity. She also knows how vital it is for the patients' family members to feel empathy and support as they care for their loved ones and make decisions for them.
Kathryn relishes the opportunity this newly formed board gives her to partner with the caring people, both hospital staff and board member volunteers, who are striving to carry out the mission of St. Vincent's Medical Center.
