Jack Harty retired after 40 years in the aerospace industry, where he held senior management positions in material operations, production and inventory control and product support. He was a consultant in the development of several major manufacturing and inventory systems, including the introduction of bar code technology to the industry. He was also a member of the award winning proposal team that secured the initial Blackhawk production contract. 

While serving as the primary caregiver of his late wife Jack himself was diagnosed with the rare autoimmune disease, Myasthenia Gravis. He has served as a director of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America's Connecticut Chapter; and as a facilitator for the  Southwestern Connecticut Myasthenia Support Group. Jack is also a charter member of the Patient and Family Advisory Board and is currently serving as a member of the Emergency Department Renovation Committee, the Case Management Steering Committee and the Patient Discharge Instructions Task Force. 

Jack has an excellent support system consisting of three beautiful and loving daughters as well as six grandchildren. Five of the grandchildren are honor students, and the sixth is a three year-old mechanical engineer in the making.
