After Gerd Weindling's retirement, family health issues required him to become familiar with the details of Medicare. Following this involvement, he took a Medicare counseling course for volunteers, and for the past 19 years has put this training to use as the Medicare counselor at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. He has been a member of the board of directors at Connecticut Community Care Inc., a home care service provider for the elderly, Qualidigm, and the Connecticut Commission on Aging. He is currently a member of the Medicare Sub-Committee of the Connecticut State Medical Society, and the Carrier Advisory Committee at First Coast Medical Service. AARP CT state president and state director for 10 years, president of the Bridgeport Connecticut Community Theater and several mayoral task forces round-out his community involvement. He is delighted to use his experience in all of these areas in serving on the St. Vincent's Family/Patient Advisory Board.
