Carolyn VermontCarolyn Vermont

Carolyn Vermont is president of Urban Family Development. She serves as a consultant in the areas of positive youth development, violence prevention, community education, career advising and financial empowerment. She also serves as a mortgage consultant with Cornerstone Capital Mortgages and Real Estate Services, Inc. Past professional positions include serving as the director for the employment training division of A.B.C.D.,Inc., youth violence prevention coordinator for the City of Bridgeport, coordinator of an Upward Bound Program, executive director of PEARL, a parent leadership program, case manager for State of Connecticut Department of Social Services and consulting assignments with various non-profit agencies. 

Carolyn has been volunteering with the United Way of Eastern Fairfield County for more than a decade. She has served as chair of the Allocations Council and also of Project Blueprint. Prior to joining St. Vincent's Patient and Family Advisory Board, she also worked for the United Way as a loaned executive. Currently, Carolyn volunteers as a member of the Workforce Investment Act Youth Council, Fairfield University College Business Advisory Council and Connecticut against Gun Violence and other various non-profit committees in Bridgeport. 

Carolyn’s past volunteer involvements include serving on the Board of Trustees at Fairfield University, board member at the Cardinal Shehan Center, board member of Housatonic Girl Scout Council, board member of Inner-City Day Care, member of BCAC Violence Task Force, ethics and charter revision commissioner for the City of Bridgeport, board chair for the Center for Women and Families of Eastern Fairfield County and chair of National Congress of Black Women.  

Carolyn received her master's and bachelor's degrees from Fairfield University. She also pursued doctoral studies in the area of educational leadership at the University of Bridgeport. She is certified in the areas of positive youth development, ethics education and also as a marriage educator. 

Carolyn is a member of Messiah Baptist Church, where she has served in the capacity of youth coordinator. She currently serves on the International Ministry. 

Carolyn is the proud mother of Nicole, a recent Georgetown University graduate, and Noel Fuller who is an undergraduate student at DePaul University in Chicago.
