St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT is a 473-bed community teaching and referral hospital with a Level II trauma center and a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport. St. Vincent’s provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services with regional centers of excellence in cardiology, surgery, cancer care, orthopedics, diagnostics, women’s and family services, behavioral health, senior health and an array of specialized services.
St. Vincent’s Medical Center is a subsidiary of St. Vincent’s Health Services, which include St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Services, Westport Campus, St. Vincent’s College, St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services, St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation and St. Vincent’s Medical Center also participates in international research programs.
In the past St. Vincent's has been recognized as one of the top 100 heart hospitals in the United States. St. Vincent's has an active medical staff of 450 physicians representing a comprehensive range of more than 50 specialty and subspecialty medical and surgical disciplines. St. Vincent's is a member of Ascension Health. Our key service areas are: Cardiovascular Disease, including angioplasty and coronary bypass surgery. St. Vincent's has one of the largest angioplasty programs in New England. In 1995 a PAMI (primary angioplasty for myocardial infarction) program that assures the availability of emergency angioplasty within one hour, 24-hours a day. A state-of-the-art Women's Imaging Center was opened in late June of 2004 that provides mammography, ultrasound and bone density services all funded by St. Vincent's Swim Across The Sound. Post operative education classes and lectures are also offered. A comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center, guides patients step by step through the weight loss surgery process. A full service Emergency Department and is a designated Level II Trauma Center and has a landing pad for medical helicopters. Women's and Family Services including a contemporary Family Birthing Center that is comprised of private rooms for labor, delivery and recovery for mother-baby care. Each has a private bathroom and sleeping accommodations for Dad, as well as an entertainment center. The adjacent Special Care Nursery affords advanced neonatal care, if needed. The center is also equipped with a neonatal special care unit (Level II). Senior Services including, geriatric referrals,diagnostic and therapeutic services. Club 50, an inclusive group that offers wellness, exercise, recreational social and discount programs. Free Medicare Counseling is also offered during the week. Behavioral Health Services including an on-site Psychiatric Unit for acute care, as well as an inpatient and outpatient behavioral health facility in Westport, Connecticut.
St. Vincent's is also affiliated with two medical schools — University of Connecticut School of Medicine and New York Medical College — the Medical Center also participates in international research programs. |
