Otolaryngologist Douglas A. Ross, MD, FACS, is Chairperson of the Department of Surgery at St. Vincent’s.
For the past 15 years, Dr. Ross has held numerous positions at Yale-New Haven Medical Center. Most recently, he served as vice chief and program director in otolaryngology at Yale-New Haven Medical Center, and as professor in the otolaryngology section in the department of surgery at Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Ross graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University, and earned his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1986. After completing his internship and residency in the department of surgery at UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Ross then served as chief resident in the division of head and neck surgery also at UCLA. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in head and neck reconstruction and microvascular surgery at UCLA in 1993.
A fellow of the American Academy of Otolarygology, Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Ross is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Rhinologic Society, the Sigma Xi Honorary Research Society, the American College of Physician Executives and a number of other professional organizations. He is a past president of the Connecticut Otolaryngology/ENT Society.
For the last nine years, Dr. Ross has received the Best Doctors Award from Best Doctors in America®, part of Best Doctors, Inc. (an international company serving more than 10 million people in 30 countries). Other awards include Connecticut Magazine’s Best ENT Doctors for women, a certificate of honor from the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, awards from the New England Otolaryngology Society in 1994 and 2007, and induction into the Phi Lambda Upsilon National Chemical Honor Society in 1982.
