Mitchell A. Fogel, MD, FACP is chairman and vice president of the Department of Medicine at St. Vincent’s. A practicing nephrologist, Dr. Fogel is board certified in both nephrology and internal medicine. 

He has been on active medical staff at St. Vincent’s for 20 years. Prior to becoming chair, he held the positions of division chief of nephrology, chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and was a member of the Glycemic Control Workgroup, the IT Physician Advisory Group and the Medical Executive Committee.

After earning his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Fogel completed his residency in internal medicine at University Hospital in Boston followed by a fellowship in nephrology at Boston University Medical Center.

He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, the International Society of Nephrology, the Renal Physicians Association, the Connecticut State Medical Society and the American College of Physicians. He has had faculty appointments at Boston University School of Medicine, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and New York Medical College, and currently serves as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

In 2008, Dr. Fogel received the St. Vincent de Paul Physician Mission Award as Physician of the Year for his ability to foster teamwork among physicians and for his knowledge, dedication and advocacy on behalf of patients and staff.Dr. Fogel practices medicine at Nephrology Associates PC in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
