About St. Vincent's Medical Center - Bridgeport CT

Cindy Czaplinski, MSN, RN, NE-BC

Clinical Vice President, Departments of Oncology, Maternal Child Health and Nursing Operations

CIndy Czaplinski RN St. Vincent's Medical Center Oncology

Cindy Czaplinski, MSN, RN, NE-BC, is clinical vice president of the Departments of Oncology, Maternal Child Health and Nursing Operations at St. Vincent’s. After joining St. Vincent’s in 2006, Czaplinski was instrumental in the development of the oncology department, established that year, helping to shape a strong foundation to build upon. Since that time more than 9,000 new analytic cancer cases were entered into our tumor registry and we have seen significant growth in the program.

Czaplinski works directly with Christopher Iannuzzi, MD, chairman of the Department of Oncology to develop and implement the strategic plan for cancer services at St. Vincent's.

She has served as director for the Oncology Inpatient Unit and for the Ambulatory Infusion Center at St. Vincent's since 2006.  In 2009 she assumed responsibility for the Radiation Oncology Division and has served as chairperson of several hospital committees.

In 2012 she was promoted to vice president of Oncology and assumed responsibility for Maternal Child Health and Nursing Operations soon afterwards.

Her accomplishments include achieving designation as a Breast Cancer Center of Excellence by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) with a recent re-certification of three years.  She has also been instrumental in developing our cancer survivorship, high risk and genetics and clinical trials programs. She established the chemotherapy safety committee upon arrival in 2006. She has gained widespread support by hospital staff and medical staff as a champion for patient safety.

Czaplinski received her nursing degree from Southern Connecticut State University and completed her masters in nursing at Yale University School of Nursing. She is board-certified as a Nurse Executive.  She is Adjunct Faculty at both St. Vincent’s College and the Yale School of Epidemiology and Public Health and in this role has traveled to Ethiopia, Russia and China to teach nursing and nursing management.
