Cindy has been instrumental in the Oncology department since its inception five years ago, establishing a broad foundation to build upon. During this time approximately 5,000 new analytic cancer cases were entered into our tumor registry and we have seen significant growth at most cancer sites.
Her accomplishments include achieving designation as a Breast Cancer Center of Excellence by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) as well as establishing our cancer survivorship, genetics and clinical trials programs. She established the chemotherapy safety committee upon arrival in 2006. She has gained widespread support by hospital staff and medical staff in her role as Director as a champion for patient safety.
Cindy has been at St. Vincent's since 2006. She received her nursing degree from Southern Connecticut State University and completed her Masters in Nursing at Yale University School of Nursing. She is board-certified as a Nurse Executive. She has served as Director of Oncology for the inpatient unit and Ambulatory Infusion Center at St. Vincent's since 2006.
In 2009 she assumed responsibility as the Director of our Intensive Care Units and in 2010 she assumed administrative responsibility for the Radiation Oncology Division. In addition, she has served as Chairperson of the Code 99 and Staffing and Scheduling Committees.
At St. Vincent's College, she is Adjunct Faculty and teaches an online nursing informatics course. She is Adjunct Faculty at the Yale School of Epidemiology and Public Health and in this role travels annually to Ethiopia and China to teach nursing and nursing management. She is currently a member of the Government Relations Committee for the Connecticut Nurses Association and also serves as a member-at-large on the Board of Directors of the Organization of Nurse Executives of Connecticut.
Cindy works directly with Christopher Iannuzzi, MD, Chairman of the Department of Oncology to develop and implement the strategic plan for cancer services at St. Vincent's over the next few years. She will report to Larry Schek, MD, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer.
